Arcana Coaching - What We Do
Whether you are here as an individual, partnership, group or enterprise, our coaching, mentoring and facilitation services can help and support you in a wide variety of different ways.
Coaching: Unleashing the Passion
Coaching is a person-centred, conversation-lead technique that can help clarify any situation you may be facing and facilitate finding a way forward to your desired outcome. The role of a coach is to help empower you to access your own creativity and passion, and turn your aspirations into reality through concrete actions and decision-making.
Coaching is about helping you to remove barriers and blocks, but we are not councellors. The coaching process can help you identify and change long-held, self-limiting or negative beliefs and may help you to source further specific support you require to reach your goals or break old patterns.
Coaching is highly flexible and can be used over one or two sessions to focus on a specific situation or decision you want to explore, or can provide on-going support over a longer period.
However you use it, our coaching approach is completely client-centred. It is your session to work on whatever issues you want and to achieve what you need as a result of our conversation. Coaching sessions are usually face-to-face – at least to begin with – and last between 1 to 2 hours. Coaching can work equally well on a one-to-one basis, with partnerships, or with small groups.
Coaching can help you with:
Releasing creativity and passion
Developing talent and abilities
Dealing with stress
Improving relationships
Dealing with blocks or self-limiting beliefs
Dealing with ‘difficult’ people
Balancing life and career goals
Monitoring progress, performance and feedback
Facilitating learning and self-awareness
Managing and embracing change
Resolving conflict
Facilitate decision-making
Creating action plans
Mentoring: What is the difference?
Coaching and Mentoring are often mentioned in the same breath – and even the same job title – but are different in some important ways. While coaching is, we believe, a balanced and equal relationship between Coach and Client that can explore any situation, a Mentor is more often an advisor or expert that helps and individual, group or organisation with a specific issue or through a specific project.
We take the same highly flexible and client-centred approach to Mentoring as we do to Coaching, and our relationship with you may move seamlessly from one to the other as your situation or needs require. If we cannot provide the specific expert advice you may need at any time, we will tell you honestly and help you find the right kind of support.
Mentoring can help with many of the issues listed above, but may also be helpful with:
Writing a business plan
Developing a new business, service or product
Project planning and delivery
Organisational restructuring
Change management
Re-branding or re-launching
Facilitation: Just a fancy word for Training?
These days, Facilitation and Training are two words also often put together, and once again we believe there is a very important difference between the two. Training is usually something done to you or your organisation, while Facilitation is about working with you, individually or in groups, to empower active and engaged self-learning.
Traditional training is often the best way to impart specific or technical information or skills that may be required. In all other cases, we believe that facilitating people to find the answers that are best for them or their business or organisation themselves is far more creative, powerful and results in long-term and sustainable change that everyone feels part of.
Facilitation must be an open, honest and genuine experience in order to be effective. We will only undertake to work with a client on the basis that there are no pre-determined or pre-conceived outcomes, or underlying agendas that may influence the facilitation process or inhibit the full participation of those involved.
Along with some benefits already mentioned above, Facilitation can help with:
Creative thinking and problem solving
Removing blocks or barriers within teams
Cultural Change
Testing systems, assumptions or prototypes
Improving inter-departmental working and understanding
Active and self-learning
